Bill has been studying and practicing riparian and wetland ecology and vegetation community ecology since 1992 as a third career, after exhausting his interest first in electrical engineering and then residential construction. Bill’s love of Nature is facilitated by the opportunities presented by this work—both for promoting the restoration of function to disturbed sites and for simply getting out into wild places.

Since 1995, Gant has been providing scientific consulting services related to the assessment and restoration of severely disturbed environments. His technical core includes botany, soil science, hydrology, environmental sampling/analysis, and ecological restoration planning and project management. These skills have been utilized on a wide variety of projects in the Mojave Desert, Great Basin, Chaparral, Coastal Sage Scrub and Rocky Mountain ecosystems. Prior to moving west to pursue his terminal degree in the natural resources, Gant was a corporate consultant in Washington, D.C. He is much happier in the field.
