Floodplain Dynamics

An overflow channel scoured by high flows and ice jams which have exposed the base of an old Populus deltoides (Great Plains cottonwood) along the Missouri River on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation near Wolf Point, Montana (elevation is approximately 606 m; 2,000 ft).
