The Eleocharis palustris (common spikesage) habitat type typically occupies sites prone to yearly flooding, such as along stream, rivers, lake margins, and reservoirs. Sites are generally classified as "seasonally flooded." This site is beside a pothole east of Browning, Montana on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation (elevation is approximately 1,212 m; 4,000 ft).
