Picea/Equisetum (spruce/horsetails) Habitat Type
The Picea/Equisetum (spruce/horsetails) habitat type typically occurs on flat sites with poor drainage. It also occurs on gentle toeslopes, seeps, stream terraces, and high elevation basins having small lakes, fens, and wet meadows with low gradient meandering streams. This site is along a stream bottom west of Augusta, Montana (elevation is approximately 1,707 m; 5,600 ft.).
