Small Mountain Stream

This small, high gradient mountain stream is well armored by large boulders. These boulders lessen the impacts of high runoff on the adjacent floodplain. Notice the limited extent of the riparian community. This site is along Dry Boulder Creek northeast of Twin Bridges, Montana (elevation is approximately 1,951 m; 6,400 ft).
