Populus tremuloides/Cornus stolonifera (quaking aspen/red-osier dogwood) Habitat Type

Relatively undisturbed stands display a large diversity of shrubs and herbaceous species. Notice the many Populous tremuloides (quaking aspen) seedlings. Properly managed, this site will support a variety of functions, including forage and cover for livestock/wildlife. This site is on Little Prickly Pear Creek, northeast of Canyon Creek, Montana (elevation is approximately 1,280 m; 4,200 ft).
