This site shows the effects of improper livestock grazing. Notice that the shrub layer and the regeneration of Populus tremuloides (quaking aspen) trees are essentially lacking. This site is on the Rocky Boys Indian Reservation south of Rocky Boy, Montana (elevation is approximately 1,219 m; 4,000 ft).
