High Mountain Pond

This small pond is typical of high mountain ponds in western Montana. The shoreline is fringed by dense stand of wetland shrubs with conifers occurring on slightly drier soils. This site is in the Bitterroot Mountain Range along the Montana-Idaho border, southwest of Missoula, Montana.
