Salix geyeriana/Carex rostrata (Geyer willow/beaked sedge) Habitat Type

This large, relatively undisturbed willow community exists because a vast network of beaver dams resulted in a broad floodplain filling most of the valley floor. This site is the confluence of Trail and Joseph Creeks east of Lost Trail Pass in southwestern Montana (elevation is approximately 1,939 m; 6,400 ft).
