Salix geyeriana/Calamagrostis canadensis (Geyer willow/bluejoint reedgrass) Habitat Type
A higher gradient on a stream tends to limit the extent of floodplain environments. In this case, the creek is dominated by a narrow fringe of Salix geyeriana (Geyer willow) with conifers beyond on the drier parts of the floodplain. This site is along Rock Creek, southwest of Red Lodge, Montana (elevation is approximately 1,939 m; 6,400 ft).
